After finding that something needed to be done differently in the advertising business, we established Curious Colibri in 2008. The biggest challenge local advertising agencies experience is to stay small and avoid the trap of having big overhead costs. We have a vision to create a small business that can be maintained to stay small yet can be competitive in different ways. Our vision has proven right so far, and since then we have maintained numerous long lasting relationships with our clients. By being small, here are some of the advantages we can bring to our clients. 

We don’t have client anymore

Instead, we have partners whom we can foster collaboration and solve problems with. All of the Curious Colibri members must have direct access to our partner and get all the information they need first-hand. We believe in experience and our ability to solve problems, but we also need to realize that our partners have better knowledge about their products and customer. Harry Potter would still be sleeping under the stairs without Dumbledore, and they do not work in advertising.

Naturally flexible and agile 

Along the road, we realize our flexibility and agility in adapting to different requirements and changes in the market. Partners acknowledge our swift response since all of us get the first-hand information on any adjustment required, without being a sweatshop.

Many small advertising agencies specialize in specific industries, market of type campaigns. We live by our mission to #CommunicateGoodThings and by being small, enable us to do just that. Now we can say that we are specialized in Health, Technology, Energy, Banking, Environment & Sustainability. Choosing a specialized agency will reduce time for back and forth discussions, and enable us to craft more targeted and effective strategies based on the brand needs.

Less time to do this and that

Creativity is the heart of effective advertising, by being small we have the capability to cut the nonsense bureaucratic hurdles on our side. We have more time to experiment and explore ideas to deliver fresh and suitable output for our partners.

We grow together

We have long relationships with most of our partners, we know the brand inside out and maintain close relationships with them. We prefer to have collaborations instead of agency-clients sort of relationships, that way we can solve more problems faster and efficiently. We are confident in our experience, but yet our partners have better understanding about their brands and customer insights. Collaborative success is much sweeter!

Adaptability to Local and Regional Markets

Only Indonesians understand that “gedang” has two meanings, banana and papaya depending on who you are talking to. And only Asians understand that living with our parents after graduating from school is normal. Better understanding of local and regional customer insights give us advantages compared to multinational agencies. We have the ability to tailor campaigns that resonate with specific cultural nuances, consumer behaviors, and market dynamics.
