Indonesian Population is Getting Younger, and I’m No Longer in My 20’s BUT…

Through my teenage girls and their friends, I learn new things about:

  • How some new slang are cringey and you should not use it
  • Despite that they look more mature than the kids in my time, they somehow have a better understanding of the world. Middle school students can talk about their struggle with balancing eyeliner and then jump into who created the first language. Yeah, I’m a driver who eavesdrops
  • Although they look pretty and poise they have many insecurities about how they look
  • What’s currently trending and what’s being cancelled

At the same time, my life experiences get richer:

  • Now I know the perspective of living as a parent, with all of those bitter-and-sweet sections
  • The topics that used to be uninteresting now feel important, like how to stay healthy and alive
  • Enjoying the benefit of the present and some multifaceted past experiences

Although it is somewhat true that advertising is an industry of young people, some of us who already earn life badges have a competitive advantage too. As long as we continue to learn and relearn and of course be curious about everything, as a team constructed with different backgrounds and born at different times we can give a 360-degree experience that is rounder, and most importantly – relatable to most.

Whatever it is, work is one thing, but don’t forget to live and enjoy the little trinkets in your days. Mine currently: afternoon snack session with my team.
